It’s renewal, responsibility, and the belief that everything we create should have a life beyond its first.”
— Scott, Founder

Q: Scott, how did Phoenix Ashes & Co begin? What inspired the brand?

Phoenix Ashes & Co was born from the simple idea that we can do better.

Clothes shouldn’t be disposable. They shouldn’t harm the planet or the people who make them. And they shouldn’t exist only to be worn a handful of times before ending up in landfill.

I wanted to build a brand based on renewal — on circularity — where clothing can be worn, loved, and eventually returned to be transformed again. That’s where the name “Phoenix” came in. Rising from ashes felt like the perfect symbol for what I wanted this brand to represent.

From day one, I committed to using GOTS-certified organic cotton, renewable energy, and a closed-loop model where worn-out garments can be sent back and recycled responsibly. It’s clothing with an afterlife — and that’s the heart of our mission.

Q: Sustainability is clearly at the core of Phoenix Ashes & Co. What does it mean to you personally?

For me, sustainability isn’t an optional extra — it’s the foundation of everything we do.

It means choosing organic cotton because it’s safer for farmers, safer for soil, and safer for everyone who wears it.
It means powering production with renewable energy to drastically cut our environmental footprint.
It means designing clothing that’s built to last — and built to return.

One thing I’m deeply proud of is our free return circularity program. When your Phoenix Ashes & Co clothing has reached the end of its life, you send it back. We recycle it or remake it. That’s true circular fashion: nothing wasted, everything reborn.

To me, sustainability is simply respecting the planet that supports us. And that respect guides every choice I make for the brand.

Q: What challenges have you faced building a sustainable brand?

One challenge has been helping people unlearn the habits created by fast fashion. When clothing is cheap and disposable, sustainability becomes an afterthought — or something people assume is too expensive.

But when people try our products and feel the difference, they understand that sustainable clothing isn’t just “better for the planet,” it’s better quality, full stop.

Another challenge is cost. Ethical choices aren’t the cheapest choices. But I’ve always believed that doing things right is worth more than doing things quickly.

Circularity education is also ongoing. Most people don’t think about what happens at the end of a garment’s life — but they should. And we’re here to change that mindset.

Q: Where do you want to take Phoenix Ashes & Co next?

This is the part I’m most excited about. On top of our direct to customer products via our website we hope to be:

Supplying Touring Artists with Sustainable Merch

In the near future, I want Phoenix Ashes & Co to partner with touring musicians, comedians, and performers to supply all their merchandise — sustainably.

Why? Because merch tables shouldn’t be full of fast-fashion shirts printed cheaply just to be thrown away after a tour. Artists deserve better. Fans deserve better. The planet deserves better.

Our vision is simple:

Tour merch made from GOTS-certified organic cotton

Printed responsibly using renewable energy

Designed with circularity in mind — worn-out items can be returned and remade

No plastics, no wasteful production, no throwaway tees

And most importantly:

For every product sold at an artist’s show, a tree will be planted.

One tee = one tree.
One hoodie = one tree.
One tote = one tree.

This means artists can tour knowing their merch isn't just supporting them — it’s actively healing the planet.

I want Phoenix Ashes & Co to become the go-to sustainable merch provider for the entertainment world. Whether an artist plays to 50 people or 50,000, their impact can be positive.

We’re already laying the groundwork for this initiative — and I cannot wait for it to become a reality.

Q: What’s your favourite part of running this brand?

Seeing people connect with the clothes.
Seeing customers return their worn-out pieces to be recycled.
Seeing the community grow around sustainability, kindness, and creativity.

Every message from someone saying, “This is my favourite tee now,” reminds me we’re building something meaningful.

Designing new pieces is also a joy. Every collection feels like a chapter in the story of what Phoenix Ashes & Co stands for.

Product Spotlights

A closer look at some of our favourite pieces.

⭐ 1. The 100% Organic Men’s Tee

This is where essentials meet ethics.
Soft, breathable, and made from premium organic cotton — it’s the kind of tee that becomes your go-to without trying. Perfect alone, perfect layered. The fit stays true even after repeated wears because quality matters.

What I love most is that this tee embodies our philosophy: simplicity, comfort, and sustainability without compromise.

⭐ 2. The “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” Tee

This design carries a message — a reminder of what drives us.
Printed using low-waste, water-based inks on organic cotton, it’s bold but conscious. It’s become a fan favourite for a reason: it speaks to people who live passionately and stand by their values.

⭐ 3. The “By Being Kind” Tee

This one is close to my heart.
It’s gentle in style but powerful in meaning. A reminder that kindness is a choice — and a responsibility. Ethically made, vegan, plastic-free, and soft enough to become an everyday staple.

When people wear this shirt, they’re carrying the message of Phoenix Ashes & Co forward.

Q: What advice would you give someone wanting to shop more sustainably?

Start small. Start curious.
Ask where your clothes come from and what they’re made of. Choose quality over quantity. Support brands that offer transparency and responsibility, not just marketing words.

And most importantly: think about the end of a garment’s life. Clothing shouldn’t die in landfill — it should be part of a cycle.

When you buy from Phoenix Ashes & Co, you’re joining that cycle.

Closing Thoughts

Phoenix Ashes & Co isn’t just a brand — it’s a promise.
A promise to make clothing that’s better for the planet, better for people, and better for the future.

Whether you’re wearing one of our tees, returning one for recycling, or one day buying merch at a show we’ve partnered with, you’re part of something bigger.

Thank you for supporting the rise of the phoenix — and the rise of conscious, circular fashion.

OCEAN PLASTICS POLLUTIONA Global Tragedy for Our Oceans and Sea Life Plastic accumulating in our oceans and on our beaches has become a global crisis.
